I have had 6 new people reach out to me on skype this week (including international people). Not one person had a hard time reaching me or having a with calling me.
But you had conference calls fail last week where Skype wouldn't even add everyone to the call. So call it what you like, but you are affected by it. And it is impossible for it to be me, Skype is centrally controlled and the Skype system cannot add the messages. So the issue is Skype. It's not a user issue, this we know beyond a shadow of a doubt. If you log into the website as me, your account doesn't work to me. That is no more an issue with me than it is with you.
Only you were unable to be added to the call. Only you see an odd avatar for her account. Only you, only you, only you... I guess Skype must be broken.

Danielle saw it too. "Only you" always means the system is broken when there is no "only you" component of it. What "only me" do you think there is that doesn't mean mean that Skype is broken? There is no "me" aspect to Skype. Especially when we are talking about their web page. What you see is what Microsoft themselves project. There is no aspect of "me" involved.
We went through the exercise of showing this to Danielle to ensure that there could be no discussion like this using the "only you" excuse. She agreed, Skype wasn't working.

I know, you just proved my point. Her account is not working. The image that Skype has for her is not one that you control.
I read a great line this morning that equated situations like this with playing chess with pigeons. The fact that you seem to be the only person who logs in and sees the wrong picture can indicate whatever you want it to indicate, regardless of the fact that you seem to be the only person asked to try it that comes up with the wrong picture. Several have, and so far, you are the lone user seeing that incorrect image. If that means that Skype is the only common element and we ignore that only you are seeing that, then sure, Skype sucks and everyone needs to trash it and move to something else.

Isnt it all supposed to be unified across MS accounts these days? Isnt that the point of live.com and msn.com and hotmail.com and outlook.com and all the others? Im sure they were merged a few years ago.

Nope, the two are one. If I delete the old one, it deletes the new one too. Skype feels that the two are a single account.

Regular skype isn't tied into a MS account. And if you had an old account that was WAY before Microsoft owned Skype.

Actually, it is. Microsoft made me integrate accounts earlier today. It's new, maybe new as of today.

Actually, it is. Microsoft made me integrate accounts earlier today. It's new, maybe new as of today.
I opted to combine my accounts, but I don't think I was ever forced, and with the fact that she probably hasn't logged into that old account in years she probably will never log into it and see a prompt to move it to a windows account.

It's been at least 7 years. the email for the account doesn't even exist anymore.
