So not too bad a vulnerability. And it's already been patched. That's good.

It is bad. What good is a server that's isn't providing a service? It may as well be turned off.

      Patched already is great.

It could be giving up secure and privileged information... at least with this one you know there is an issue.

Are there any printers installed on it?

I had server once that kept randomly crashing and it turns out it was a printer driver of all things.

No printers installed... but I had wondered the same thing as I found that on some forums.

      It drove me nuts.

Kept rebooting the server in the middle of the day, randomly. It was awful.

Are you sure the spooler caused the reboot rather than a faulting driver not being isolated and caused the server to reboot because of a driver issue? I've witnessed print spoolers on servers crash many times and cause the whole list of printers to become unavailable, but that is about the extent of it.

Pretty sure it was the driver.

I think it was an older printer that maybe didn't have an updated driver.

I could definitely see a problematic driver causing a server to crash. If it isn't isolated, it could certainly cause the spooler to crash as well (but without causing the server to crash).

I saw a site recommend going to System > Display > Advanced Scaling Settings and fixing it there. But it is already off there, and that does nothing. So once again, Windows 10 total failure. How do normal people outside of IT even use Windows anymore?

Its popping up because it's off. It's alerting you to turn it on

But I don't want it to scale, it's doing the right thing. Off is correct. The notification is just wrong, period.

It's not scaling. I had to turn it on to fix Outlook and nothing changed sizes. It's for the handful of dialog boxes and applications that appear blurry for whatever reason.

It's not scaling? Even though it's the scaling dialogue?

I didn't notice any changes other than the boxes that were blurry. I didn't notice it scale anything else.

To play devil's advocate, if you're using LUKS the data is encrypted in transit also. So it's not just at rest.

I can't remember off of the top of my head, but you might need FIPS mode enabled for dm-crypt to encrypt in motion as well. I'm lazy and don't feel like looking it up.

Factory reset a phone and try manually programming? How about a packet capture at the site firewall, do you see attempts from that IP phone to where? I am assuming that the PBX is hosted elsewhere.

This is basically where we went. We did this series of events and it appears to be fixed...

Rebooted the firewall. Removed SIP-ALG, but this appears to have had no effect. Updated the firmware on each phone. Went to static DNS rather than DHCP set. DNS to CloudFlare instead of AD. Ensures STUN was on and set correctly. Added the PBX as a Proxy, manually enabled STUN for the proxy.

After those seven steps, all phones are now registered. Couldn't find any step there that individually made a difference.

To me looks like the DNS was caching something for the devices to get to. That's my theory.

If so, why did changing the DNS alone not fix it?

Not sure, I am just going by what you said. Basically very strange.

Any objections with setting up OpenVPN instead of using ZeroTier?

I dislike how OpenVPN is a pain in the ass inside Windows.

      But it does work well.

      I prefer to use L2TP/IPSEC.

      @obsolesce that's annoying. . .

Edit: still annoying but doesn't Hyper-V have startup priority?

No it hasnt until I checked 6 months ago. Only way is build a delay schema by hand and assign delays to VM batch start them in layers

Hyper-V had startup priority since 2012... fully configurable... startup action and startup delay.

This is inaccurate. There is not a priority.

Hyper has only ever had this.

Okay, technically incorrect.... I'll give you that.

The point I was trying to make, was you can artificially set priority VM booting by adjusting the "startup delay" for each VM.

I am running this on Fedora and Ubuntu is not really an option as I have other items hosted on this server.

I did install it via the Snap package. Update though, once the initial upload of files finished it seems that it went back and got the files it missed due to the exception. I restarted the service (which I did try prior to posting) and the errors no longer showed up. Only ignored files show and other files that I know previously had an issue uploading did upload.

Strange that the issue just went away though.
