Will this usb to rj45 console cable work with the Ubiquiti edgeswitch?

Ubiquiti uses standard RS232 communication on a standard EIA-232 port. So this should work fine.

@dashrender You used $group but did not define it in your first example.

it's not defined on purpose - several of these have undefined, it's expected that you will define/replace them yourself.

That is a very poor guide. You posted a script. I expect to copy and paste it and see something work.

Jared is right to a point.

I've now gone back and added variables to all of my scripts making it easier for someone using these to see that they need to enter their own information into the variables to make it work.
I could take it a step further and prompt for that data - but one thing at a time.

Look towards Europe, where IPv6-only internet service is not uncommon.

Getting error The remote session was disconnected because there are no Remote Desktop License Servers to give a license.

This is on server 2016 and just doing RDP connection for setting up server roles not using terminal services or making a terminal server just connecting with RDP like you do desktop to desktop on the Lan, etc.

There are no CAL licenses applied yet.

Connect to the server as mstsc /admin or mstsc /console with the Admin user. Setup the roles, license the server and you will be good to go.

@eleceng Just make sure that you have an account that is not the built-in Administrator user as the only Domain admin and the GPO Policy applied only to certain OUs and not the domain root. Otherwise you will have a problem in your hands.

@it-admin 4 years later, I encountered the same issue that you did.

The solution for me was do do a PCI passthrough of the physical NIC directly to the VM. This bypasses all virtual switching inside Citrix Hypervisor. I posted the exact steps to implement PCI passthrough on Citrix Hypervisor 8.2 here:

@scottalanmiller I guess I will just have to wait until more options roll out I guess. The standard was pushed back a long time so i figured they would have a ton of hardware ready for release but guess not.

And then the attachment is saved where you want.

Except, you have no way to save to a users ODfB space.

It is easy to do this to non user locations or a user home folder on a server, but not the user's ODfB.

I am sure it can be done with all kinds of delegation or something setup. But in @Dashrender's case, I would assume some of the stuff is PHI that potentially shouldn't be able to be accessed by an account like that.

Yeah - I'm guessing that each person would need to create their own PA for this to work without having to worry about delegations, etc.

That exactly what the example I linked to showed. It standard stuff. No problem putting files in each users onedrive.

I think you use templates or something to do it for many users in Power Automate. As I said we use Zoho Flow but they all work the same. It's just scripting without having to code.

@pmoncho That seems like a complete overspend for the need. Although there might not be a better way

No, it keeps the boot off the data raid array.
You can do the same with something straight on the sata bus, but a minor expense gives you a dedicated boot raid array

I agree you want the boot/hypervisor not on the main array... but I'm assuming these BOSS setups aren't cheap.. definitely no where near as cheep as a USB stick or SD Card. Likely 100's of time more, if not 1000's more. that's all I am getting at.

BOSS card is just a card, it uses standard NVMe drives. So you are looking at $100 in drives retail for a pair of 250GB drives.
They don't have the issues of SD or USB with wear, thus removing an entire fail domain.

If you have a Dell server with SD boot, then you already had a BOSS card, so there is no difference in the expense.

OK - nice to know they are that reasonable... still tons more expensive than USB, but a ton safer too.

No one boots current hardware to USB. No one. It was only a thing for a couple years in fact.

/sigh - yes Jared, I'm aware of the change.

And when you build an ERP in house, you are obviously stuck maintaining a team for that, for forever. But generally the same if you put in SAP. A good friend of mine does SAP integration for a smaller manufacturer in New York. Their full time, dedicated SAP support team is larger than the in house development team for the bespoke ERP for a larger company.

They are similar manufacturers in that they are both multi-nationals, use similar supply chains, etc. And the SAP implementation is more costly up front, took longer to implement, carries more ongoing risk, requires more ongoing cost, and does less.

@dashrender it is a manufacturing network so you would want internet access disabled 95% of the time and only enabled when you need to do application updates, windows updates, etc.

A common approach here is to disable routing.
