The Scale partner solution that people are thinking of is Work Spot. And no, it does not automatically create the VMs it's more of an access layer.

I'm thinking of getting a Chromebook just so I can have non-mobile (desktop mode) web access in places I do not want to have a normal sized laptop. Is 11.6" too big for that purpose?

Phone is just too small and so inconvenient for some things I want to do. I'd rather have a super small laptop just for web access and simple things.

11.6" is not very big. It's only slightly different than carrying around an iPad, but for me, way more usable.

      @Shuey said in Free SharePoint?:

@Carnival-Boy Cool, I'll look into that.

If I was going to try a P2V of this server, what would be the best way to go about it?

I could consider a cold clone (the only disc I have available to try this is the VMware cold clone 3.0.3 disc; not sure if that will work or not) Another option I was considering is installing VMware Standalone Converter, then booting into DSRM mode and performing the P2V. Once the server was successfully converted, I'd shutdown the existing server, fire up the virtual, and make sure the IP was the same.

Thoughts on these options, or other possibilities?

The best case scenario is that the P2V jacks AD totally and forces a total rebuild of the environment that allows you to demonstrate to the owners that bad-IT is just another term for "wasting money" and that would give you a chance to start fresh.

Yeah the firewall was the issue the entire time, for some reason I don't recall that being an issue last time I set this up. ..

Whatever, thank you all for proving it was human error.

@JaredBusch no just Godaddy certs so far. You probably found the same blog posts I did:
      http://blog.ganser.com/automate-lets-encrypt-certificate-renew-and-deployment-to-kemp-loadbalancer/

I did not find that one, and it is exactly the right thing.

I can update my cron to call a script instead of certbot renew and then have it use the Kemp API to push the cert after a renew.

So now on to setting up multiple certs per virtual service. read a post that I couldn't. if I can't this gets harder too.

Because LE on IIS still is not pretty.

Usually this is caused by unknown applications that have not been whitelisted or like Jared noted it is journaling mode.

@scottalanmiller not really, just some I don't remember

I have started to forget about MS Project completely. It's been so long since I knew of anyone actively considered using it. So many alternatives that are not so costly and don't have old fashioned web clients have made it fall into the background of technology history. Once people mention it, I remember it. But ask me about project management software and I never think of it anymore.

Which ones are on your table now?

When I was a project engineer we used Primavera a lot for CPM scheduling. We also had a lot of in house stuff developed for Lotus Notes (blah).

@FATeknollogee rolling means they constantly upgrade sw when ready. The opposite is sw which sticks at a given version and is subject to security fixes only.

Exactly. In Windows terms, it would be like MS Office updating from 2013 to 2016 automatically on any given day. Tumbleweed tends to update a couple times a week, but the updates are tiny. Just whatever applications have a new release and have been tested get released as they are ready, not in blocks together.

The big difference is that it is updates to packages and releases of new packages as they are available, not just patches that are provided. All OSes release patches on a regular basis as needed, or weekly. But rolling releases actually update the software versions all the time.

@Tim_G said in Mangolassi Website semi-frequent "Internal Error":

I think I've figured out the main issue...

When clicking on a notification, the notification links to, for example: https://mangolassi.it/post/296273

After that, the browser is supposed to automatically redirect to: https://mangolassi.it/topic/13654/for-the-love-of-ipod/11, which it does in all other browsers and Edge pre-1703 update.

In MS Edge now (post 1703), after you left click a notification, it takes you to the first link, and gives you my original error. When I middle click to open it in a new tab, it works as normal, and redirects to the second link.

Dunno about Edge 1703, but IE 1703 is a pile of poo. Even though it is still IE 11, a ton of B2B sites that had specific settings no longer work.

Of course the real issue is crappy web design but still.

      It's working thus far -

I went to SKYPE and installed the RPM and installed signed in with no trouble.

I'm still on the LIVE USB version, but happy that it's there. A bit easier when I have a full keyboard/mouse to work with.

Looking at dual boot configurations / process now.

The web app is often better, if you have issues, just switch to the web version.

I should have mentioned it before,.. but I did try to use the Web,.. it was trying to do some type of account merge of my MS and Gmail account - some weirdness. And never 'worked'. Of course since I'm here at it,.. I can give it another go and see what it comes up with.

Oh yes, MS is doing some weird new account stuff that is a bit of a problem.

This time It didn't - so much have finished even though I cancelled it, quit and powered off....

Ah nice. This will be a nice change.

I agree with the assessments. Basically you rebooted in a long, round-about way. But it was time consuming and ultimately didn't teach you anything. What you learned is that rebooting next time will solve the problem faster and more reliably 🙂 It's not all bad, you have slightly more info than you would have had otherwise, but there are almost certainly more useful places for your time.

Sadly, yes. A tip here is that a knowledge transfer group would never provide software in this way. Just the act of doing so should warn you of what kind of group it is.
