New Bottom Ads

I tried to make a poll about this but it failed. We are testing out new "bottom ads." This is an unofficial one, just being tested to see what we think of the format. The idea is that it only takes up space when nothing else would be using it. Does it seem intrusive? Is it a good value ad (add) without disturbing the rest of the site? Does it cause any problems?
We are definitely trying to avoid anything up top of the page, but would love to not waste the bottom.

On my screen I have the side bar ad, and the bottom ad making an "L" shape

To fix the formatting issues with some of the other screens, I'd drop the sidebar ad and leave the bottom one.

Not sure that that would be an option. The sidebar is the highly visible one.

Hopefully the formatting issues with the sidebar will be resolved soon. We have a GitHub issue open for that one.

Oh I see, on mobile.

On infinite scroll pages that have no bottom, you never see it.
For example the Recent posts page.

I assumed that that would happen. They are not a "high priority" ad, but it is partially because of that that they could not replace the side bar ads.

@scottalanmiller If the design could put a bottom bar always there and the infinite scroll area above that, it could work out.
The system does this now in mobile view for the blue navigation bar.

Considering you have to go to the bottom to post on a long page, it's still valuable real estate for sale, and not a waste at all. The only issue is this:

There are many times I do split-screen on my laptop (watching Netflix on most of the screen and a very thin window for 2048Alphabet. I've noticed that if I open ML when doing this, the side ad often drops to the bottom? Are frames not being used or are they at fixed proportions?

The way I see it, the 2 hottest activity spots in any post/thread are the OP (sidebar ad is there) and the latest comments (bottom ad is there). Only in the case of a new topic with no posts on it do you have both ads visible on the same screen. Unless it displays differently for mobile. If so, get a computer and voila: problem solved!
