@scottalanmiller So what server would you recommend instead for a small office with a handful of users?

First question is always, do they even need their own server on-site? If yes, then: Stallard Technologies PowerEdge T410, or xByte PoerEdge T420

The refurb Dell from xByte is a great way to go.

They are okay units. The unit I reviewed on Spiceworks used the B-series software raid. It currently is the replication target and has been running almost continually for almost 2 years. As for running for a small office, I'd be more comfortable with a better card.

How about a supermicro micro tower, hot swap enabled and similar form factor. Here is an image with pricing from the mx supermicro site

I love those supermicro micro servers.

                  Just awesome compact units.

Have not seen these, that's awesome. What is the hardware RAID option on those? I do love SuperMicro in general.

@scottalanmiller Don't thinks these have hardware raid by default, so MD raid would have to be used.

2 10G ports mobo and a chassis for $1400? Wow that is sweet.

The HP Micro does that much 😞

Doesn't the HP Micro have Fake Raid as default?

No, but it does have an HP SmartArray software RAID option. But software RAID can't be a "default" with a hardware device, it's not a possibility.

@scottalanmiller Sorry, poor choice of words. I ment to say, the HP Micro didn't have a dedicated hardware raid card in the initial configuration.

The super Micro also has fake raid.

And the motherboard list this as tested as compatible cards:

Don't really know how good any of those cards are, I have actually never used a raid card. I have only used MD raid.

What FakeRAID does the SM come with, Intel?

Well yes, of course. But the SmartArray software RAID isn't bad. Has some benefits. Might even do blind swap. But that's just the Microserver from HPE.
