        A $40 - $50 Android desktop would be a pretty fun toy.

Well ... If you factor in the cost of an 5V adapter, a case, and SHIPPING, it works-out to $66

I wish that they would make one based on the NVidia K1 or better, X1. Would make it $80 I'm sure, but still, would be awesome.

There's a whole bunch of different ARM boards out there. For example the Lemaker version of the HiKey, which features nothing less but a A53 Octa-core, a Mali 450, up to 2GB LPDDR3 and 8GB eMMC onboard storage. It's roughly ten times faster than a Pi 3, depending on the use-case:

For example, some simple CPU benchmarking:

Stats taken from golem.de, a popular German IT website. I guess you'll get the translation of "Sekunden" on your own 😉

At the end of the day, you can choose from a lot of different platforms, and it all depends on your use-case. ARM boards do not yet have the power for general-purpose tasks like an x86 PC, but you can get specific boards for specific jobs which will perform pretty well.

BTW, here's a database that may come in handy when looking for a ARM or Intel Atom / Celeron based SBC (single board computer): http://www.board-db.org/

Does not include anything, but may give you an idea about the different approaches.

Talk about a cool project, the powerful Pine 64 board (more powerful than the Raspberry Pi 3) which natively supports installing Android can be used to build your own desktop for just $40 according to CIO.com. This looks like one really cool, fun project.

Might be what I do with the PINE64 I have...

I see MDM management being something really big in the near future for home users. Pretty soon everything will be "smart."

Instead of the Internet of Things, it should be the Internet of no Security. Cause, vendors suck.

Internet of the Figment of Security (because the NSA is demanding back doors to everything)

"Ifs" for short If we had access, this wouldn't have happened.... Yeah sure....
