They already dropped RT completely. So unlikely IMHO.

I don't feel like they are going to abandon Metro. They've invested too much. But the new CEO does have the "blame Balmer" card to play and might do it.

RT was good in concept but it did live and die by the "App Store" which still needs a lot more useful apps...I find myself using the desktop on my Surface Pro 3 more than anything...the best Modern app to me...The "Modern" Internet Explorer...

@garak0410 App Store also needs a way to find stuff. I can't find anything on there. It's useless.

Agreed...horrible search algorithm and the layout is bad. Sometimes I'll search the exact name and I have to scroll over several pages to find that app.

I would be in total shock if they abandoned the Metro UI. Windows 8 was ugly and needed some serious refinement at its release. With the latest updates Windows 8.1 is fluid, responsive, and much easier to navigate.

Windows 8.1 can do something that neither Android or iOS can do. It can run real applications and is not dependent on an app store like its competitors. Which is great for the consumer, but Microsoft would rather control purchases through the Windows Store since that is how the maximum amount of revenue is made. Either way, Microsoft will take what it can get. As we saw with the RT and many failed Windows phone versions, your device is only as good as the applications that can run on it.

I've also got a Windows Phone (8.1 too) and the new and useful apps just keep coming. There isn't much of an app gap now unless you consider "local" apps like banks, TV-Stations, etc.

And it took time but I've gotten over the schizophrenic side of Windows 8x and embraced the hybrid quality of it.

It makes me give up. There is no way to reliably find an app you know about on Metro or the Windows Phone. And if you are looking for one you don't know by name you are screwed.

Probably comes from using Bing no matter how badly it works. Microsoft ties good products to broken ones making everything worse.

I had to stop using the Windows phone. It was useless.

I usually find the best apps for Windows Phone and Windows 8 via links from Windows Phone Central. Great site...sad that I need them to do the searching for me...
