Has anyone used the "Smart Queue" feature on EdgeOS? I have a client with a 50/5 connection, and they are getting some VoIP phones, going to a cloud based PBX. There are no VLANs, and I just want to ensure VoIP gets priority over everything else.

The latest firmware on the ERL has Smart Queue and the only parameters are download and upload, and which interface to apply these rules to.

How does the Smart Q work? Are you supposed to put in your actual maximum speeds (50/5 in this case) and the ERL takes care of the rest, or something else?

Yes, set to line speed. It automatically limits to 95%. It works well for normal small offices.

@JaredBusch for when he isn't driving. He does this but I don't directly recall in what manner.

Too slow even driving. that is what cruise control and Siri are for.

I does not help with specific ports/protocols. So it won't necessarily help VOIP traffic (but, may just based on packet size). It's based on current usage, packet size, etc. Smaller packets will get higher prioritization, bigger ones will get less.

OK good, some confirmation. That's what the documentation eluded to, but it wasn't 100% clear for me. Thanks.

For a 7 person office, It will probably be fine. Would you recommend making any adjustments in the EdgeSwitch that is in line as well?

It works fine in a 40 person office.
No reason to touch the switch.

Excellent. BTW, the UI for the EdgeSwitch on the latest firmware is pretty nice. A lot nicer than the Dell switches I'm used to configuring in the past.
