So, I have been working on a migration from 1 cloud service to another and I asked if we are ready to go for this weekend. Here's what I got from the tech: "Weekend go-lives need to be scheduled in advanced and approved ahead of time and at this point it doesnt even sound like the infrastructure is in place so this weekend is not very likely."

The infrastructure isn't in place? Fine...even though when we discussed this I said the first week of December or the 2nd would be a good time to do it and the tech said "this sounds totally doable".

What I'm ranting about is since we started this little journey back in October, I have said over and over that this is happening on a weekend. I may be able to give them an afternoon on Friday, but that's it. Don't come telling me it has to be scheduled and whatnot when I have been saying this in EVERY conversation that it will.

OK rant over even though I'm still mad at that little nugget.

It just means that they are not ready to do it. Have they paid already? Or are you internal IT? In either of those cases, yay, you get a reprieve from work. If those are not the cases, bill ahead of time.

Honestly, Scott, I was perfectly fine with going with January, just don't try to put the blame on me about some kind of scheduling that needs to be approved because I said all this from the beginning. They act like this is some sort of a surprise that needs a change order. B.S., they knew.

Oh, I forgot to answer the questions LOL

I'm internal IT...and yay I am happy about not having to do it before January. I had a discussion with them before and I said the 1st or 2nd week in December would be cool. They said it was doable...now it isn't.

Ah, didn't catch that they were acting like anything, just pushing it off.

Knowing that this would occur on a weekend in the first or second week of Dec is not the same as a hard date. Assuming that only today are you telling them a hard date of this weekend - then no, you didn't schedule it in whatever window they wanted. Should they have told you that you need to pick a hard date to get this on the schedule, sure, where they required to - probably not.

Who's the hold up? The cloud provider?

Sometimes you just need to scream into the void. I feel you bud.

No, I wouldn't spring it up on them like THAT!! We talked about the dates back in November and I told them it was going to be a weekend in October. Plenty of time if you ask me.
