What if you hadn't gone with iPads at all? What if you'd used Android tablets?
What if is always a good question. However I have used an iPhone since the 3gs, and iPad since version 1.
There are things going for both the iOS and Android lines,.. My investment now is in the iOS line... And when I started using the 3gs about twelve years ago, I wasn't really all that interested in Linux.

Same here. I've never seen anything like that. Also, who's to say that picture means that it is requiring iTunes to charge? Or how do you know what it means at all? It's a picture of a USB connector and iTunes... is the iPad connected to a computer and charging via a USB connection? It looks to me like iTunes believes there is a USB connection and wants to be opened for management of data.

The ipad booted into a safe mode. It needs iTunes to fix the issue with it.

What about people who don't own a computer at all? If you reset the iPad, and never associate it with a computer iTunes account, would that solve the issue?

If you do that, you can always just find someone with iTunes. Sucks to maintain a Windows infrastructure for a once a decade five minute need.

Depends what you are backing up. Other than contacts, what's on an iPad that you need to back up?

How much do people store on phones that they need to back up? I need nothing but contacts. Everything else goes to storage somewhere else.

If you're an avid phone gamer, you might want your saved games... otherwise I mostly agree with you.

Yeah, but just turn that off
We did on the new one. Turned on the Amazon Cloud Drive/Photos sync application. That works splendidly.

I run Windows 10 as my main guest OS, but 90% of my stuff is done on one of my Linux VMs. For Windows specific tasks I have another licensed Windows 10 VM. When connecting to work via VPN I use my Windows 10 VM. I really don't do much of anything on my host OS.
I invested in VMware workstation a year or a so ago and it has been a great investment.

why was that license needed? Virtual box have an issue you couldn't overcome?

Linux vs Windows, both have a place. Licensing is what makes Microsoft such a pain to deal with, especially when you've seen licensing done correctly instead of the normal tricks and traps.
