Though, if what you need is in that picture of JB's he can do it faster, assuming he's still near the store.

Thanks. Hopefully that can be avoided. International shipping to a location you don't own is terrible.

International shipping to a location you don't own is terrible. Just as painful for the shipper, and the truck driver/air crew.

What? why would this be the case? Not saying you're wrong, just wondering why you think that?

I used to be that truck driver and did all the shipping for a small factory for a while. I know all about it if you really, really want to hear about it.

Wouldn't international make that easier though?

In what way? The electronic forms that only sometimes work correctly, the regulations on what types of pallets your allowed to use, along with customs inspectors that get around to checking shipments 3-4 weeks after the shipment has arrived on the dock? Trust me, it's much more difficult for the people involved with getting the shipment done.

By only needing to drive from one warehouse to another.

I'm not sure where the driver comes into this? Don't they just, you know drive?

It's not like your taking the package all the way from someplace in the US to Scott's door in Italy. You're taking it from the sender's place and bringing it to the processing center, right?

Scott - it might be worth just splitting this off before your whole thread is over run 😛

That's what I thought. No need to find a house. All the international stuff should be trivial process boilerplate as it is done every day. If a shipper has to "figure anything out" they can't be much of a shipper.

Oh, they all have everything all figured out. It just takes so much more time to do anything with any international shipment.

Quick example. The airplane that flies between Toledo, OH and Shanghai China only makes a round trip every 3 days. They have 2 flight crews, and could make the round trip in 34-36 hours. It just takes all those extra hours to get customs clearance for the thousands of shipments being sent across boarders on that airplane.

Then getting held up at customs as a truck driver. I was sitting waiting for 8 hours one day because they wanted to run a background check on my license. The time cost to doing anything across an international boarder is crazy.

Side note: This is why the Articles of Confederation (post revolutionary war, pre-constitution in the US for those that don't know) was an abject failure.

Cost, sure. I've seen the truckers sleeping at the Nica / CR border. But it isn't hard, just... boring.

It's both. Extra work because you have to get the customs forms filled out for every shipment, and longer delivery times.

To process a shipment going to Canada would typically take 3-4 minutes, whereas anything going to the US would take 20-30 seconds to process.

But is that extra work? Or just longer delivery times?

It's both. Extra work because you have to get the customs forms filled out for every shipment, and longer delivery times.

To process a shipment going to Canada would typically take 3-4 minutes, whereas anything going to the US would take 20-30 seconds to process.

The computers don't fill out the forms automatically?

Did you look at Ubiquiti's website for resellers?
