If you ever wondered how secure your cell phone is, and especially things like traditional phone and text messages, not only can the government use technology to hijack your calls, but in many cases they are allowed to do so and are protected from even going public which whether they will or not, let alone if it is happening to you. This kind of technology does not discriminate against criminals being monitored or the innocent public. It's a broad "capture everyone without a warrant and sort them out later" technology. It's called a stingray device and it makes hacking your communications trivial - unless you've moved to technology like encrypted VoIP and Telegram, of course.
