That is the new CAPTCHA i voted for as worst tech ever.
How many pictures with road signs in them did you have to choose?

I'd rather deal with 2FA than deal with CAPTCHA. Send me a text message or something.

Actually, don't even bother with text messaging. Did you not see Kevin Mitnick's presentation the other day? Just do the time-based code thing through any number of freely available apps and servers.

But if you are signing up for a service then how are you going to have a rolling number setup with the service already?

Here is an idea (I'm sure somebody way smarter than me has already thought of this). Lets just replace passwords with 2FA. Put in your email address, website automatically generates a QR code for you to scan to setup rolling numbers, then put in the number that appears on your device.

First of all, what you're talking about is not 2FA, it's now just normal authentication. You always have to have 2 of the 3 things normally associated with authentication to have 2FA, something you know, something you have, or what you are. (I know I'm talking baby speak here, it's for other people finding the thread latter, not for you @NerdyDad.)

You normally setup a standard username/password, and only after logging in for the first time can you add on a 2FA code.

I was signing up on a website, and it took a while to find a username that wasn't taken. In the meantime, my human verification expired.

Are they worried that I may have started out human, but at some point turned into a robot?

As I understand it, that particular one makes use of all of the data Google has collected on you. If you are logged into your Google account, just clicking the button is frequently enough. So having a robot click a button proves nothing. 😛 But if it was just suppose to be a robot pushing a button - well, i guess they got it. /sigh (i.e. I didn't find it funny/humorous)
