Very interested in this. I’ve been waiting until it was on my area, which it is now. The price tag isn’t that bad at all. And multiple accounts and included DVR capability is cool. Doesn’t look like it’s available for the Firestick yet which is my main streaming tool.

Oddly, with Apple TV you can access the most content. Google Play purchases via Youtube app under your Purchased playlist, iTunes purchases, all streaming services, etc.

Firestick seems like its the last to get everything, but its also the one I have had the most trouble with. I gave mine to my dad and he noticed on his ERX it was consuming crazy amounts of bandwidth for things like background images in standby. Have you had trouble with this?

I haven’t noticed anything in regards to bandwidth. Of course , I’m not monitoring anything at home either.

Not sure if it's still like this out of the box or not. This article is older...

      https://www.geek.com/android/amazons-fire-tv-can-consume-80gb-a-day-predicting-what-you-want-to-watch-1598095/

Ok, I'm turning on logging for my ER-POE at home to see if it's still that bad now.

I'm never going to allow regular network programming.

I'm sticking to services that allow you to choose which shows or movies you want to watech at will and commercial free.

We need nothing more than Netflix, Amazon, and Kodi. Those are less than half the cost of that YouTube TV thing.

That's exactly what I do too. It's not that I'm not willing to pay for that stuff, I actively don't want it.

The problems I have going without network TV:

1.) We have people over a lot, they want to watch sports (family, friends, parties).

2.) Shows we watch on FX, AMC, NBC etc (Walking Dead, The Voice, Modern Family, Mr Robot (theres at least 20)

3.) Random things like New Years and Thanksgiving Day parade werent available anywhere

4.) Local news and other local channels (the require an Antenna with Roku)

You can get some of it on Google Play, Amazon, Itunes, and some of it on Hulu. But it ends up much cheaper and with more features on Youtube TV.

I only have Netflix and Amazon and I have the Walking Dead, Modern Family, etc. Definitely not The Voice, thank goodness, no idea about Mr Robot. Network shows that are good enough for Netflix to want, they get. Just because it's also on a network doesn't mean you won't get it some other way.

Mr. Robot is an Amazon production... one guess where the only place to get it is.

True but they are a season behind at least. You can buy them a day after but that adds up.

The Voice is a wife favorite. Its tolerable. I usually work while she watches it in the background.

It is? I thought that was one of Amazon's exclusives, oh well, w/e.

When I quit Time Warner I had to hear it every day about how weird our life was without Cable TV, lol. So at this point I feel like Youtube TV is perfect iteration of Network TV over the Internet.

I dont think anything is going to catch up or beat Google on this. But you never know.

So glad that I cut the cables in the 1990s. So the idea of having cable in our house is completely unheard of and no one would ever consider it.

And every time we go to a family member's house and see it, we always come away saying "thank goodness we don't have that".

LMAO. I can relate. If I lived alone I am not sure I would watch any TV.

The one nice thing is that whenever I want to cut off internet and TV I can do so in one fell swoop from the router.

But if you start a season late, you get the same level of keeping up.

I would really like a la carte pricing. I don't speak Spanish, so why would I want at least 2 Spanish only channels? This is one of the biggest problems with traditional TV providers; a whole bunch of crap channels I don't want, in a bundle with some I do want.

This is an amazing idea for the consumer but is not how the media companies write out their contracts. So, you want to carry History, USA, TBS, and MTV? Then, by contract, you also have to purchase all of these other channels that nobody is going to watch. Its rediculous, but this is the cable/satellite industry. If that carrys into the streaming insustry, I don't know, but I would imagine so.

Yeah I know what you men, but every I doubt if it were broken up you'd see $3/station pricing. It would just become more expensive.

Since I was paying $220/month on average I'm really happy with where things are now. I'd have to really think about what the differences are. But even price aside I like the YouTube TV app experience and DVR way better.
