Workstation and Server are on different kernel versions

Are they still different after running updates?

Yes, they run with different kernel releases fully updated.

I'm putting on 'Fedora Workstation' via the server version (Fedora-Server-netinst-x86_64-26-1.5.iso), LVM + XFS. I started doing it with Btrfs, but decided against it last second.

I copied this from my other post to get more eyes. I'm really curious as to why it makes a difference on hardware.

It looks like Server Net Install and installing a desktop spin is the way to go with Fedora 26 for personal use.

I don't know why, but when I install from a workstation ISO whether it's netinstall or not, I always get weird errors posting on the screen during boot up and shutdown/reboot.

Hmm, let me try your idea of Net install + desktop spin & see if those weird bootup messages will go away.

The only time I’ve seen two different versions
was with Fedora Custom Operating System and Minimal.

They are on the same kernel now. I must have timed it just right when a new one released.

But now they are both using 4.13.9... Fedora Workstation on both the server and workstation net installs. They both update to 4.13.10 now... weird. Talk about timing.

Anyways, 15 minutes ago while I was on the "Workstation ISO" I was getting the errors.

I just finish loading up from the "Server ISO", still on 4.13.9. I hit shutdown, and I got the weird errors still.

I wasn't getting them yesterday, the only difference is that I'm using XFS instead of ext4. But they are kernel errors... i'll try to get a picture.

Damn, I just don't have the time to keep reloading to pinpoint the issue. In both cases things run well. I'll just keep the 'server iso' "fedora workstation" spin going. I don't see a difference at this point.

I don't expect anyone else to waste their time on this, but I will still take a pic to see if anyone has any ideas.

Perhaps updating from 4.13.9 to 4.13.10 fixes it, but that's wishful thinking.

For me, both installs are the same!

                  No more errors during shutdown.

All I get now is a bunch of messages that pour down the screen matrix style that says "Kernel not configured for semaphores....", but I think that's just SELINUX, which I can figure out later and is no big deal.

Soooo, not sure what fixed it... using the Fedora Workstation spin from the "Server ISO", or upgrading to the latest kernel which seems to have been release just today.

                    You mean this?

Yeah, I have always gotten this. Just never bothered to troubleshoot it.

Yeah, that's all I'm getting now. I will worry about that another time, as I'm pretty sure that's just SELinux related and I should be able to fix that easily.

But before that, I was getting errors that were too fast to see what they were. But, they are gone now. SO I guess all is well.

I noticed when installing workstation from the server netinstall, that it uses the default partition scheme of the server compare to the workstation installer.
