I just realized I forgot to leave a couple of laptops in the coworker cabinet for Monday morning class.

Buy a used / refurbished one
Yeah that's what I was looking at this morning. Think I found a LSI MegaRAID 9260-4i SAS Raid Controller PCI-E maybe the 8i model. Both look like they support ESXi and 4tb SATA

What about using KVM? Linux has a better support when it comes to old hardware.

I think I will once I've finished with this, just a few vSphere/vCentre things I needed to re-familiarise myself with and this is all I have at hand unfortunately.
