Just looking for a web browser on old hardware. I have used Lubuntu before, but I am wondering if there is anything even lighter.

Puppy Linux is the lightest weight distro that I've ever used that is still around today.

If you need something that works on ancient hardware, I'd highly recommend it.

How's it like for drivers? Last time I was trying some extremely lightweight Linux OSes the wireless was often a pain to get drivers for.

Instead of a full Desktop Environment, you can use a minimal window manager like i3.

Here are a few distros that that only uses Windows Managers.

                • i3 (17.1.6)

With anything lightweight you'll have to add on top of it. The last time I used Puppy it had the functionality I required.

I came across this many times, and indeed puppy is light but it is ugly.

I have thin clients that just needs web browser and I thank god I didnt install OS that just have web browser, I went something Lubuntu or Fedora LXQT SPIN is perfect, cause sometimes you need to print so you need proper OS for that, maybe you need extra package.

Trust me you never need just web browser, unless your HOTEL.

Or me. I easily work from nothing but a browser. That's why Chromebooks work so well for me.

If you really need only browser you can do fedora minimal + xorg + xinit + browser.
Costumize xinit to run your browser.

Slitaz is the lightest usable one I've found. It's only about ~40MB. Much smaller than even Puppy.

I went with Lubunutu in the end. The hardware I have is old, but not ancient. Centrino 2 and 3 gb of RAM. I tried puppy linux and bodhi linux, but didn't care for either.

Puppy was fast, but ugly as holy hell. Bodhi didnt seem to work right on my system. It was sluggish for some reason.

Ya Puppy is just bad. I hadn’t Slitaz running on an old thin client at one point. It worked pretty well for that.

Ya I didn’t mean for you to have to do that. It’s ok, doesn’t look awesome but def looks better than Puppy.
