I wonder if they will work to get OneDrive personal to do the same?

I bet, but down the road. Right now this is Office 365 so they know that you have all of the parts. I bet personal O365 plans will go this way with the consumer OneDrive.

Very smart on Microsoft's part. Then again, Dropbox has had the ability to link to files for YEARS. They just aren't integrated with Outlook, etc. Thunderbird has something called...FileLink I think it is. I never used it but that's also an option.

Everyone had the ability to link to files. That's not important. You state this as if it is special that Dropbox did this. It's the integration that is important. Linking to files was the recommendation going back to the dawn of email.

Like I said, Thunderbird has had a form of this for years.

Again, you missed what was said. Decades before Thunderbird existed, everyone had this capability. You just include a link. This is not a browser feature.

I know, but you were talking about integration with an application, so that was the point I was making.

No, I was responding to your point about Dropbox offing the ability to link without integration.

I think we're arguing about different topics in the same conversation. You're saying that the OneDrive integration to Outlook is a huge deal. I did make the point about Dropbox but I made a separate point about how Thunderbird has had that kind of integration for years.

I see. Yes. I was originally talking about the integration, but in response to the Dropbox link I mentioned that links have been available since the beginning of email and it wasn't a feature of Dropbox.

This seems to happen a lot with us. We have a discussion and somehow you mix up two separate, and mostly, unrelated points and then as I'm trying to agree with you and tell you that you keep fighting it like I'm arguing. LOL This is at least the third time I can think of that this has happened...lol

People have polar reactions to me. There's really no middle ground. I don't know why...

Thanks. But the fact that my last post on this thread was upvoted and still has -2 reputation for the post should pretty much prove my point.

Not really. If 5% of people really dislike you and 5% of people really like you, that leaves 90% of people, the vast majority, occupying the middle ground of not really giving a shit either way.

I'm being pedantic here, sorry 🙂
