So we need to get a few external drives, general purpose use and we also need to encrypt them. Rather than using private solutions like Seagate Secure we're considering VeraCrypt or DiskCryptor.

I've used DC in the past and it worked well, but its a windows only solution. VeraCrypt I thought was defunct, but it appears to still be going along well with updates being released earlier this month.

We need something simple as our users are going to have to use any solution we provide often.

What external drive, cross platform encryption solutions are you using?

If you only planning on using Windows, why not Bitlocker?

It isn't just Windows users that would be using it.

VeraCrypt was spun off the last open source version of TrueCrypt that was killed off suddenly.

Ah that's what it was TrueCrypt.

                Thanks!

Does Veracrypt not fit the bill?

Just looking for alternatives to not limit my options.

I forgot about that. And still a stupid limitation.

                          I use Veracrypt.

It's compatible with TrueCrypt but It uses his own encryption mode by default.
