Not sure what they mean by that. I haven't had any stability issues with Chrome. Any examples of what you mean? Genuinely curious.

There have been a few discussions about it on ML just this week. Issues with collapsing tabs (wrong tabs close or multiple tabs close when one is clicked), general slowness and overall crashing are the big ones.

I've been keeping Firefox ready as a "warm spare" browser for a few months now.

I'm switching to it for the next week or so as an experiment:

        1. to see if it actually is better
        2. on me and how well I accept self-imposed change.

I switched to Chrome a few years ago as FF took a bit longer to load and I'm very impatient. Is that still the case or is FF just as quick now?

The other thing was Chrome uses Windows internet settings (proxy server etc etc) whereas FF used it's own settings. So I couldn't make changes with group policy on FF the way I could with Chrome. For that reason I block FF at work, and users are only allowed to use Chrome or IE.

I noticed that FF switched their interface awhile ago to look very similar to Chrome. I know Firefox has had a sync feature for years but is it automatic like it is with Chrome? I add a bookmark on Chrome, all my other instances of Chrome get that bookmark in seconds. Firefox never did that, not nearly that quick at least.

Also, yes, I love Android. I love having Chrome so naturally integrated with Android, so that I can sync bookmarks there too. It also syncs all my extensions between browsers, and even can do things like open tabs and history if I want, although I never do. Maybe it's changed, but from what I'd seen last, FF sync wasn't that intuitive.

I finally took a look at Chrome earlier this year, but in general I prefer FF. I love Tree Style Tabs and can't seem to find something similar for Chrome. Also the plug-in for LastPass works better in FF than Chrome.

And lastly, for the past month or so Chrome has been super buggy, crashes and slow.

Yeah, it's been killing me. Several crashes every day.

And not sure what you mean by the LastPass working better on FF than Chrome. I've used it on both and haven't really seen one outperform the other. Can you provide examples?

It's bad enough that I have gone back to using Explorer as my second browser. FireFox and Explorer are working better than Chrome is for me on my Windows 8.1 PC. However on my MacBook Chrome is working fine. Is Chrome on the Mac the same as on IOS (running Safari in the background)?

Ah, see. I'm still on the x86 version, AFAIK. I did have issues with the x64 version, so I went back to the x86 version and the issues went away.

I rolled back and still have the same issues. Which is why I did the upgrade to begin with.

                                  I'm running X86 Chrome.

As for LastPass, the interface on FF is much nicer, it's a pop out window, not a tab. Also, in FF, the fields fill in consistantly, on Chrome, often times I much choose autofill, etc to get my username/passwords to fill in.

No, Chrome is Chrome everywhere except for on iOS.

Hmm. I'll admit the auto-fill isn't perfect in Chrome but it's never been enough to bother me. shrugs Idk what to tell you.

FF is much better at the autofill stuff than anything else.
