With USB I think to get longer distances you need a cable with a repeater.

I know you say its only for power, but that length might not find a single cable.

If it is just power could you make your own?

      Found this information:-
Maximum USB3 Standard Cable length is 5 Meters.

Maximum USB2 Standard Cable length is 10 Meters.

My first hoguhs as well, however he just needs power. data doesn't seem needed (Please correct if wrong)

Power,.. USB is generally 5v >2000mAh and at that distance, you won't have enough power due to resistance.

I sadly don't have available time as I have to be at the new office in an hour, and it's about an hour drive... But I'll ponder your question and see if I can come up with something.

Your best bet may be some type of PoE device... or similar.

I'd get something like this and just run ethernet.

Well you're using a USB cable to power I assume for wyze cams. Setup your infrastructure so it can be upgraded later if you opt to use higher end cameras.

Yeah I was thinking some sort of Ethernet adaptor.

I take it you've installed the RTSP firmware on all of your camera's and are using ZoneMinder as the NVR?

No, because I don't need it at home.

So what is the use case here? Wyze Cam Ethernet Extension runs directly for access via your cellphone?

To provide power to the units. What else would I need power cables for?

@JaredBusch As @gjacobse already said, you get to much resistance when going over ~30 feet. If you need longer runs than that, then you'll want a different solution. IE PoE or new outlet put in.

I'll try to find one of my PoE to usb adapters and test it with my Wyze Cam Pan tonight. I know one didn't want to run well off my computer's USB3 port. It worked, but I couldn't add the security communication module to that one.

Either get professional IP cameras with PoE or do what they did before IP cams were invented - install a wall outlet near the camera and put the ac adapter in it.

Another option for you is to use a 50ft DC-plug extension, plugged into an AC adapter with a DC-plug. That's a thicker cable with less resistance compared to a USB cable.
At the camera end you put a DC-plug to micro USB. dc-usb.jpg
                                    It's still a hack though.

I had never looked into it before. I did not think the power would drop off that bad over 50'. I get the no data. That was pretty obvious.

I will likely just get 30' cables and add an outlet at some location in the attic that they all reach.

Would this work for you? Much smaller, and still POE - just need to set the port to 48v
