I'm not sure that they really compete. They share a certain market segment but go after completely different user bases.

I just meant that if I had to choose one or the other I would pick the macbook personally.

Sure, I would too. But it's because of the environment that I work in. If I worked in an all Chrome shop, I would totally chose the Pixel 2.

I would also go with the Pixel 2 if I worked in an all Chrome shop. It looks like an awesome Chromebook. I got a chromebox running at my house and I love it.

For $1000, or $1300... not sure I would pick up a Pixel, although it does have a really nice chip and loads of memory for what it is. Maybe if I could put a bigger SSD in there and install a different varient of Linux.

You might be able to. Is it a solid chassis? I would guess that at $999 you can access the guts somehow.

I would hope you could install another OS on this thing at that price.

I do like the charging port being on both sides. But I think the price is a bit much for what it is.

Even Google admits, they don't make enough, or market these for the general public. Something like 80% of the ones they build stay internal to Google. That all being said, I would LOVE to have one. They are not trying to compete with Apple laptops, so you can't really compare them.
