New York City Asks Google To Promote Right Turns

This is an interesting request: New York City would like Google Maps to favour right turns in giving directions. Google likes the idea. This is in the hopes that Google is so influential that they will alter pedestrian deaths or injuries and reduce traffic congestion.

That's actually kind of brilliant. Google says that they are not sure yet how they will do this but they like the idea and are looking into what they can do. That's an awesome idea to use mapping software to change traffic patterns.

As long as it doesn't shift the traffic patterns to the right, lol. I thought in a lot of bigger areas (especially NYC and places) -- I know Atlanta,Ga does it -- that Left turns were actually illegal?

Left turns being illegal would be pretty problematic at any scale.

Left turns are illegal on our main street in Omaha, but only onto streets, you can still legally turn left into a business who's driveway is directly onto that street - that makes no sense to me.

Keeps people from suing for discrimination or fighting over traffic patterns.

The whole thing sounds like intentional discrimination against Nascar drivers! It starts here, but where does it end?!? I ask you: where does it end?
