And Actually Webroot uses (and pay sophos to do so) The sophos AV engine.

      Interesting. I didn't know that.

So maybe you can answer a question for me... there are two "on-access scanning" options in the endpoint client... I don't have screenshots right now... but they are under Configure I think it is. One is a massive set of options and the other is just a single check box. By default, when we install it at the retailer, one is enabled and the other isn't. But I have no idea what the difference is.

Well we have their Enterpise AV not sure which product this one is. But, yes there is two on access scanning options 1 is file/AV on Access Scanning for file based scanning.

The second is Application on Access scanning for scanning for malicious code running in application or other unwanted behaviors. We enable both.

Ok, I'm pretty sure the file one, which has all the options, is the one on by default. The other is off by default.

Are you talking about this page? What's enabled by default depends on which default policy you're using.

I'm stuck with it on my Mac. And that means no AV at all since it doesn't run. No one appears to have AV working because they have a Sophos contract and it just doesn't run. For half the people I've seen, it just doesn't fire up. For the other half, it crashes out.

Have you tried the Mac version of Webroot? It's not quite up to par with the Windows version, but we're working on it 🙂

I'm lost - the companies are paying for Sophos, they are primarily Macs and it doesn't work? Houston we have a problem.

I tried it last year. It worked very very poorly.

Yeah it needs some work. We've put in a lot since last year, and are continuing to invest in it.

Our's runs fine I'm not sure what your IT is doing wrong. We some mac too and it works okay on them. you have to manually configure them to tie into the Enterprise Console and Internal Update Servers. On Domain PCs this is all automated.
