I like how the presentation ended, nice little joke about the parasite making Darwin speak 🙂

I don't know why, but I love watching bug videos. You know documentaries and whatnot. One that I saw was a fungus that would infect the brain of an ant. However it happened, the ant was compelled to climb a tree as high as he could and when (wait for it........), the fungus exploded its head, it would spray the infection to a wider area. They commented that this was the closest "zombie" behavior they've seen.

The colony was smart though. When the other ants noticed one being infected, they drove that ant out of the colony. Nature is smart.

The Siafu documentary was one of the coolest bug videos I have seen. I am glad we have normal ants over here in the states. Ants that can swarm and devour dying cows and passed out humans (allegedly) has my respect.

@deniskelley That sounds incredible I am going to look that up.

I will have to watch the original video posted off company time.

Briefly a few times for work, I stick to Iowa/Missouri.. they have ants as deadly as Siafu? Had no desire to move to Texas and definitely won't moving forward.

Texas has pretty crazy ants. Not that bad but far worse than you would think.

Gross and awesome all at the same time. I could care less about ants (even huge ones) they don't bother me that much anymore, I've eaten my fair share, have scars from being bitten and have watched them carry off baby goats. Cockroaches however are another thing.... shudders.

Great follow-up on that documentary John Carpenter made in 1982!
