The last step there, "Networks" is still functionally the same, but the GUI has been updated.

Then, what providers support OPUS? Most only support 711 and sometimes 722.

Hence why we transcode to g722 for Skyetel. But the g722 path is from a datacenter to datacenter, so not really worried about questionable call path qualities.

Opus seems to help on everything from wifi to mobile to offices with low quality WANs. We have people on fractional T1 still, so fight some tight bandwidth battles.

Fair point. Fair point indeed. lol. I will admit, I have a rule of thumb with inconsistent problems. If it's on a computer, first assumption is hardware.
For something like this, first assumption is Firewall, and more specifically NAT.

3CX's behaviour as a company on the Spiceworks forums is additionally reason to not deal with the product.

So you want the G100 to just convert the PRI to SIP?

      Is this what you want?

What if any work have you done so far?

That's the part I'm assuming he already has done.

@Dashrender I'd be pitching what ever kind of PBX @Mike-Ralston wants to build and support and what ever kind of phones would work well for them.

      That'll be FreePBX.

I assumed as much, but wanted to make sure.. so get a list of functions then compare to functions on old system.

Additionally, your iPhone does not add a pause automatically. It adds a wait. A wait means you have to push a button to continue dialing. A pause will automatically continue dialing. Every single time I have updated a contact form email data it has added the wait and not a pause.

Mine is a pause, it's fully automatic when I've used it. It's only so often that it has come up, as I basically never call people, but when I've used it, it is 100% automated. I didn't even know the situation that you are running into could come up. Mine takes the number automatically and dials it, including the extension, automatically. At least it did in the past.

I've never even heard of this - of course it makes sense - using the pauses like JB mentions makes sense as long as the menu system doesn't change. 🙂

Bringing this full circle, the point is that you need a main DID for everyone to call into and get the operator, and then a second DID for everyone to call into and get the IVR directly so they can dial straight to the person.

No need for hundreds of DID.

If you have no operator, then your main number would just be the DID with the IVR.

Plus if I implement a solution such as this, and she finally does upgrade to a smart phone; I can then setup said smart phone with a soft phone and she could also receive the calls from home.

Just makes life a bit easier (assuming she freaking upgrades....)

At some point she's not going to have the option. My fiance is upgrading this summer thank god. I'm going to upgrade this coming summer as well. I wanted to get an Unbuntu phone but google pixel looks pretty cool. Idk.

I'm praying for the day her phone dies (and all flip phones are no longer supported)

I'm sure you could find a way to expedite the process. An accidental drop from a 10 story building or "accidentally" driving over the phone after it "accidentally" falls out of your pocket come to mind 😄

You know...stuff users do to get new laptops more quickly then their scheduled hardware cycle date. Lol

What folder on the server do you place the config files in for https?

it all goes in the /tftpboot folder. FreePBX handles that in the apache vhost config. port 1443 goes there.

I am interested in Xivo (whatever their new name is).

It is not production ready like FreepBX yet, but their goal of making everything accessible via REST API will make it a very flexible thing.

Me too, certainly lots of potential and I hate the FreePBX interface, so am hopeful there.

Let me know what you don't like if you have time!

Also the Wazo(XiVO) developers are great guys. A few of the FreePBX team (Rob Thomas ( @xrobau ) and I) talk to them ( @quintana ) weekly on IRC/Twitter and we've conversed over a hangout session and at Astricon.

And PIAF was the goofy "build it yourself" version of FreePBX. Just silly. Why build it yourself and have things go wrong when FreePBX was totally free and open and did it all for you and had the ability to update, get support, has a community, etc.?

One point of note here @scottalanmiller PBX in a Flash existed a long time before FreePBX was a distro of its own. But yes, once FreePBX existed as a distro, there was never any other reason to do anything else.

@scottalanmiller fwconsole starts asterisk, and it makes sure it's started and running with the correct UID

Or it should. It did last time I checked 😎

Edit: Saying that, I believe I was the last one that messed with that code, so if it's NOT working, it's probably my fault.

This was happening because for some reason the conbridge.conf file (or an include therein) was not being created correctly and thus because conf files were missing confbridge was never loaded. I believe this was because conferences was not originally included in the tarball for 13 but we fixed this so it should be OK???? Not sure...

It was fixed this week? It was just six days ago that we saw it, but it's not been re-run since then.

Yeah, annoying that it tries to run that when it is unnecessary and doesn't work. Could always track down the script and limit when it is run. But once you know it's just pointless errors, it's not a big deal.

Right. I was reading up on that a bit. People seem to call it a "pseudo bridge mode."

That's why they call it "bridge mode" rather than bridging.
