My wife's uncle last week offered me a slightly used indirect tank if we want it for free (his 2 kids grown and gone does not need as much hot water, it they went tankless and are fine). I've heard that the tankless hot water heaters have issues with city water, specifically, they clog up easily due to all the additives/contaminants. Anyone know if that's true?

My dad is a plumber and has put lots of these in and then taken them back out cause of all kinds of issues. They are very sensitive to everything. We are on a well so for us it would be a horrible idea.

In Romania that all that they have... well + in line heater combinations.

Whoa!
I had to share that with scott this morning.
The day may have started off well, but it certainly ended poorly lol....
"We turn the server off and no one can get online.... help please.."
Now there is some reason they are turning the server off at night, but to not make the correlation - to me is just insane.

@DustinB3403 even once he realized that the server was the problem, he said that they would not fix the problem because it was supposed to be like that. Well okay but... what's the question then?

About 10 years ago we had a customer who said his computer wasn't turning on and he didn't have internet access. Well, it was a bad power supply, easy fix. After it turned on I asked "so, what was your Internet issue?" and he said "Well, it'll go on the Internet now that it's turning on."
What? Really? Seriously? That's like saying your tires are flat because your transmission is shot.

I did some work for a Truck Stop a few times... When I gave them analogies using their words, they were like, "Oh, well, that's stupid..."
Then I'd explain to them that was exactly the way they were doing their computer. Then the lightbulb came on and I never had to help them with that particular problem any more, lol.
