You'll definitely want to use LUKS along with dm-cryptand not just dm-crypt itself.

I have experience with LUKS with my current Manjaro install but haven't deployed the others yet.(LLVM, not LUKS - damn lunchtime coffee kick in already) -

Woot, Fedora! Consider Kerora 24, too. Fedora based, with Cinnamon. I love it.
