Outlook decided not to open like normal this afternoon..

Even better, it did not help. Now I get to blow out my Outlook profile and start over.
I had to do that on mine (only one computer) this morning. I didn't reinstall; I just created the new profile and set it to always open with that (had to make it in safe mode). We also had 2 client users with Outlook issues this morning.
I tried one last thing first. I opened the mail app in control panel and looked at the account slisted. noticed one for icloud, removed it.
Outlook opened.I only had the original Outlook profile; nothing else.

Foolish me. That guy screwed up like crazy, too. It's pretty clear from his wording that he doesn't know what threads and cores are, doesn't know how Hyper-V works, asked a salesman for advice and got taken to the cleaners, asked about licensing AFTER he bought it rather than before, has no idea what to DO with his licenses...it's a mess. This would have been a really simple discussion to have before buying. Who spends all that money and THEN asks the IT people "what did I buy this for?"

I've been told by more then one SMB owner/manager that they can do IT better then their IT staff, if they just had the time to dedicate to it.

Yeah. These are the same people that ask you what the bare minimum is and then agree to pay for half of it. Apparently we define what the bare minimum is differently

If he's a businessman and can't handle being told he handled the situation wrong, he's worse off than if he was an IT pro in the same situation.

But for what? Because Scott told the guy he spent 2-4x on licensing that he didn't need to? Because the guy who posted was not informed about licensing and so probably just spent thousands of extra dollars, unnecessarily? Excuse the political reference, but SW seems to respond to a lot of things the same way Drumpf does. Ignore it, bury it, or just block out someone who will question them. But yeah, the guy seems like he screwed up bad.

If he's a businessman and can't handle being told he handled the situation wrong, he's worse off than if he was an IT pro in the same situation.

One would hope that they could, given the bad averages of IT work out there. Look at the average poster some places, they are literally just "buying IT" and buying it badly. If their managers couldn't do it better, that would be pretty sad.

I am just curious to know who requested it? I doubt it was Chris from MS. It was probably the OP complaining to CM that people were making him look bad. Well, he f***ing deserves to!
