@Dashrender I believe they do send on the pager system, not SMS. Again we're talking about a very simple relay system - there's no confirmation it worked either way.
Cellphones don't have them as it's an additional radio + additional cost etc.
Yet most if not all cellphones have FM receivers, just they are disabled in the USA.
I'd gladly give up the FM for a pager receiver instead for critical messages. Though - how would that work? would you need a separate phone number?Presumably yes, however they're phasing out the paging network everywhere so there's not much point looking into it

But it wasn't an ad - it was part of the show.
Kinda like the fake ads that are in RoboCop, only done in such a way that Scott was unable to tell it was a fake ad (or not an ad at all) until much closer inspection.
