I see it recommended constantly on SW.
In a dire pinch, I would still do this. Otherwise, I would just ship it out to a data recovery place and let them do what they're best at.
The real issue is how they got into this position, not that they do something crazy and desperate.
I heard that if you sing to them, they spin faster. I swear it works.
How can you hear about something and swear by it?
SW style.

Because enough people have tried it and it used to work. I haven't had to do that in God, 10 years or so. Backups are your friend.

Saw the Emoji movie today with the wife. It was a fairly good movie.
Collected kid from the Grandparents and now back home. Time to do a little bit of last minute hurricane prep tomorrow. Just gotta get a few things in doors so they don't wind up on somebody's roof. Also need to bring in some firewood just in case we lose power (wood burning stove works, so we can still cook).
Other than that, we got some food stuffs that don't need a fridge, and we're good to go.

Just fixed a bunch of servers offline with host being off and other servers not getting dns with the help of our friend idrac! Root cause I'll look Monday, rolling back into bed.

Jus powered down our Tampa office infrastructure. Remote power via UPS is a good thing, even if it a crappy APC piece of junk
