So this on a posting "The candidate should demonstrate prior knowledge of most of the following: • SQL Server administration and reporting • ERP/MRP Reporting • Windows Server administration • Hyper-V with Failover Clustering support • Microsoft Dynamics NAV • C/AL, C#, VB, VB.net and PowerShell • Networking including firewalls, routing, VPNs, and SANs" So do you want a DBA, Systems/Network Admin or a Software developer?

Oh this wasn't a test?

I think this one may be worse for an IT Specialist. "Education (Transcripts Required): Completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree"

A lot of the time these jobs are posted after staff has left and HR has zero clue what to ask for to fill the position so they shotgun it

Also the reason I apply for things that ask for more skills than I possess - once you ask some pointed questions you can get a better feeling for what they really want

@MattSpeller said: Also the reason I apply for things that ask for more skills than I possess - once you ask some pointed questions you can get a better feeling for what they really want I general don't want to be involved with a company that expect me to know how to program even though I know a bit of VB.Net and java. SQL is fine to an extent as it's normal I've had to administer it before but it's not my strong point.

@thecreativeone91 Yup, you have to be comfortable with what they are going to ask of you

You ever spend way too much time researching a $20-40 product? That was me this week. I finally pulled the trigger today over a week of reading reviews. I added the one I purchased and a competitor to my cart almost daily. Then I would remove them and add them again the next day. Fun times...

Interview for a job tomorrow. Need the extra cash but I think it might be a step back in my career as it's a part time help desk job. Ugh.

Considering something like that for myself. My goal of buying a sports car before I turn 31 has 4 months left and a few thousand dollars to go

Just take it for the time being, and be willing to jump on something else instantly That's the plan. I just don't like working with mainly client OSes much (and haven't done it much in a while) I'm more of a network and server guy.
