@scottalanmiller said in What Are You Doing Right Now: @WrCombs said in What Are You Doing Right Now: Exactly my thoughts on it.. And yet, someone is paying for this service? These things blow my mind. /sigh. We dont pay for this, however almost all of our customers pay for the service of PCI to see if they are vulnerable. It's equal to Pen Testing from what I understand -
And I guess it's potentially because the The site was having internet issues

I mean.. it's pretty bad to get a fake audit even free. But at least using a failed free service means no money wasted.

@WrCombs said in What Are You Doing Right Now: It's equal to Pen Testing from what I understand - Sort of. But like pen testing, a PCI audit means nothing on its own. It comes down to the quality of the audit or of the pen test. Pen testing has a weak reputation, but PCI audits are a running joke. Essentially all of them are fake and tell you nothing.

@WrCombs said in What Are You Doing Right Now: @scottalanmiller said in What Are You Doing Right Now: @WrCombs said in What Are You Doing Right Now: because you aren't here to learn. How did such clueless people advance then? Their inability to learn has been a constant point of contention. Clearly, something not true there. It's not inability to learn . Its not having time to learn because I'm leaving 1.5 hour early everyday for 5 days at a time . If you're taking your lunch at 3:30, then really you're only leaving 30 mins early, assuming you work 8-5 with a 1 hour lunch.

Wouldn't being pointlessly at a desk instead of a more work conducive environment be the actual barrier to learning? Their story just doesn't add up. Clearly, the boss is stuck in that - I have to see you, otherwise you're fucking me for a paycheck and not working - earning me money.

And that's extra shitty considering they know you have a family and all. Seems like they would be trying to help you advance, because kids are expensive.

Hell - you could spend that time reading/learning without the phones generally ringing.
win/win..of course that's still a loser because the company - but anyway...

Do you punch a clock? If yes, then the boss would know you're there 30 mins early... though you should talk to him first about it -because he might say somethign like - well dude - we don't need you at 7:30, we need you at 430 when clients are calling at the end of the day - but noooo, you're gone at home with your kid - which we get.. and well sorta kinda understand, but don't really, because we are complete controlling jerks who trust no one.
-
Big storms up north. We have clients going home left and right.

So you're a 8-5 shop.. not open outside those hours - if a restaurant has a problem at 7PM, they're just screwed until the next day?
