lost a client. been with them for 8-9 years.
      no consultation, no nothing.
they have a track record of this type of behaviour
the worst thing about it all
      the way i've been treated
got told my services were no longer required by a consultant

the new mob they've gone with
first thing they asked me to do (yeah, I'm going to take notice of what they want)
can I remove the av off all hosts so their rmm can be installed
this, while i'm still managing the network

Yeah, this has been happening lately sorry to hear tha.

Started an on-premise to Microsoft 365 migration this morning. Only 1 file share to deal with getting into Sharepoint this time.

        Sadly, they'll still have on-premise Quickbooks 😞

Ug - I just learned I'm going to have to support Quickbooks again here soon.

All I hear in the back of my head is a line from one of the last songs from the Lorax movie.

"Let it die, let it die, let it shrivel up and die,...."

          no doubt!

apparently we own another tiny company for a single service that we supply/share with other locations around town... so the owners made a separate company just for that. And it's all run on QB. The previous accountant is retiring and the new person is someone I'll have to support.

Why would you say that - this is a completely different company.. it's books are it's own..

Luckily it's really tiny and shouldn't amount to much - i just hope they have their backup solution in place.

I'm currently researching and making notes, for soon there will be a post about how RojoLoco IS ABOUT TO HAVE TO LINUX!!!! Well, just 1 Linux. Probably RHEL since that is now free for up to 16 servers.

Not sure how long it will take me to formulate a bunch of dumbass questions, but hopefully not long.

Also @siringo, why can't they remove the A/V themselves when their contract starts?
IMO, It's your ass on the line before their start date and they are just trying to make things easier for themselves at the expense of your soon-to-be former client.

That's exactly how I see it. I'm not going to help them at all.

They seem to be a bunch of cowboys. To be honest I can't see the boss being happy with them at all, they're too informal & just don't understand.

The client was a specialist medical practise. These people tell their clients they're going to die. I can't see how people like that will be able to tolerate IT people that are proud to call themselves 'nerds' & 'geeks' and have pictures on their web site of themselves, posing with stuffed toys & giggling.

They're more like gamers than IT professionals.

The only dumbass questions are the unasked ones... However, you should probably be prepared for equally dumbass answers 8-D

Dealing with some automation that was working and now - for some strange reason - isn't. Wondering if it isn't some jak-GPO issue.

                              @RojoLoco here's one of those dumba$$ questions...

What's the point in SSO if you have to enter a password for EVERY MS Product???
                              that's
Sign into PC, Passworded for Outlook; Passworded for Teams; Passworded for OneDrive...

                              FFS!

Especially when its' the same )@(#&$)@&#$ password for everything!

Admittedly, if you log in to your PC with a Microsoft account, some of that is eliminated.

yea - that doesn't seem to help.... sub 300 PCs,.. and we'll add about 30 people before end of year... so really PITFA

Eww.... Yeah. I do not envy you at the moment.

I swear - I'd almost go back to the State with the Hour Drive, and the stupid State policies... This is ,...... (redacted due to excessive language)

I wish I had time to watch stuff like that. I just got out of my 4th hour+ meeting of the day.

Well, watching is doing work and occasionally looking at my non-work laptop's IRC window.
