Low single quality will send it as a generic text message. I've seen this with several users here personally.

This would make sense since his mainly works at our owners farm with poor cell signal. I assume the fix is turning off iMessages for SMS, correct?

Is the iMessage conversation showing up as one of their email addresses?

if you set iMessage to use the email, and phone on both it should all show up in the same one. If not try unchecking them an re-registering it.
