The fluency is based on retention. DuoLingo keeps testing you on old stuff to gauge how much you are keeping.

I took German in high school for a couple of years. When I first saw Duolingo a couple years ago, I started German again for a few months but got busy with other things and eventually stopped. It was great, though. I have always wanted to become fluent.

I use it from time to time but always get sidetracked or whatever. And we switch the languages that we speak locally all of the time which disrupts things. This time, I'm making a serious effort to get the Italian down.

Eight day streak. Having long streaks on DuoLingo makes me feel much better about staying focused.
