@travisdh1 yeah I'm trying to avoid being the dick, as the people I'm having to convey this information too more or less ensure I have a paycheck.

      But, yes that is accurate.

Or just decide not to care and don't be involved.

How is that helpful? I'm the technical lead on the project, so looking for ways to get people to understand the benefits not the perceived(made up) risks of OSS.

How much of the lead are you if you aren't making the decisions? It's helpful because you should not care more than the actual decision makers do.

I'm the guy who makes the software operate, and ensure our team can sit down and "drive the car".

If you were, would we be having this conversation?

@scottalanmiller I don't understand the question. Of course, because businesses are teams of people. On which everyone has to provide buy in.

So, they've given you the car to drive, but given you no input on what vehicle to get. Sounds great till you end up with a Prius to haul cargo, or a tractor tailor to transport people.

No. Normally business has someone in charge. Not run by committee.

Get the PM involved. Have him identify your pigs and chickens.

OBS is pretty much the industry standard. If you want, you could take its code and BE the official support for it. If your company does not want to do that, you could do it yourself. Or hire any third party to do that.
