Just ran into this issue today from new Windows updates.

      0_1525898795450_Screenshot from 2018-05-09 15-36-12.png

RDP “An authentication error occurred” “This could be due to CredSSP encryption oracle remediation”.

      More info from TechNet

I see that @Dashrender posted about it here as well.

@scottalanmiller I actually talked to a client having this issue today myself. Now I'm gonna have to keep a mangolassi.it tab open at work all the time at the new place. Such a pain when it's a 3rd party SaaS app. Waiting to hear back from the application provider.

I feel like this should have been announced or mentioned somewhere on the update before hitting install. I generally read the update description from WU before installing them.
"This will break Remote Desktop client, update your servers first"

We have a user here that does clinic work outside of his job here. The clinic says the issue is on our end (because we applied the update). I told them their servers were out of date. Somehow I'm the asshole.

That's because I didn't spell that out in my post - the error only "suggests" that it might be the issue.

Disabling NLA on RDP fixed the issue for the time being.

Windows 10 - 1709 update ends in xxxx717 if you want to uninstall it on an as-needed basis on desktops (for anything running Home and doesn't have secpol available, or domain joined for the same reason).

Windows 10 - 1803 ends in xxx721.... they all hit on 05/09/18 (my Win10 Pro laptop had that this morning and gave me issues after a reboot... didn't want to modify my local policy but instead just uninstalled and rebooted).

Also @scottalanmiller , I used this downloadable tool to hide the x721 update for 1803, before uninstalling and rebooting. It had auto-installed later that day.
