What is the best to connect two FreePBX Systems together? A site to site VPN already exists between the sites.

I found this: https://wiki.freepbx.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=4161588 but it's quite dated (2013) and it taking about over the internet.

I assume it would work fine, but I just wanted to check before I started.

@Curtis is the purpose to have inter-office extension dialing so you can avoid having to dial over the PSTN?

Also, we will save a bit of money not having to pay sip providers on both ends (for internal calls)

Latency between the sites is about 30ms

A bit dated information but I believe it will work.

That or @JaredBusch will FFS me and show you how to do it.

@romo has done this a bit recently.

An IAX2 trunk is what you want between the systems.

That is current. IAX2 has not changed in years.

That is also what he linked in the first post.

There is no point in a VPN for this, but it should not hurt anything as it already exists.

This is a very minimal connection secured by IP restrictions in the firewall.
                            My PBX side:

Obviously you need it on both sides. Here is the other side of that connection.

Then you need an outbound route to pick up the dialed digits.
                              06889608-6b3f-482b-8216-7f228afad886-image.png

The client extensions are 5000-5499. This Dial pattern matches that.

Then make a reverse pattern on the other side.
                              Our extensions are 100-199
