      Youtube Video

802.11 is the technical name for what most people refer to as the "Wifi" series of standards.

Has there been a new wireless standard since 2014? I know this series is a few years old, so I was curious.

Wifi is the slang term for the 802.11 family of networking.

At the end of 2013, 802.11ac was introduced. That was the last common standard that we use daily.

But since then, the following wifi standards have been released...

          802.11aj in 2018
          802.11af in 2014
          802.11ah in 2016

One standard is expected later this year, another next year, and another the year after that. All well in motion.

Is there anything out there that needs up to 6.8 gigs per second?

Porn.. Always Porn. This is not a joke.

The porn industry is one of the leaders of adopting technology into actual business use.

That's actually not all that fast. Fast for a phone, but not for a network link. We have systems implementing 10Gig, 40Gig and even 100Gig regularly (okay, 100Gig is rare still). So 6.8Gig isn't that much. I have a VERY entry level client using 20Gig right now.

Internal or external for 20Gig? what are they moving?

Some do consider 802.11 wireless standards as pr0n. It didn't quite do it for me, though. I prefer IRQ channels and dip swithces :heart_with_arrow: . I like old school pr0n, what can i say?

AC might be porn, A, B and G aren't Sears Catalogues at best.
