I want to take a deep dive into FusionPBX to compare it to FreePBX. What is the preferred OS to install on as of right now? Their documentation still says Debian 9, but also says Debian 10 and even CentOS 7 is "supported." (But Debian 9 is recommended.)

The developers use Debian. So use that.

That is works on other things is not relevant.

The same should be said about FreePBX. The open source GUI can be added to anything. But the Distro is only Sangoma 7 (fork/downstream RHEL 7).

They state, clearly, that 10 is supported and tell you where to download it.

            So use 10.

For reference, you can look back at my older thread about installing this right after 9 came out.

Agreed. I was just thrown off by their wording on that page. it says 8,9 and 10 ARE supported but then in the very next sentence, they say 9 is currently the recommended OS.

This is my general rule. unless they use something insane or unnecessarily expensive, I do this above all other things.

For packaged systems like a PBX.

For other things like web apps. I tend to put them on Fedora (my chosen OS), no matter what the dev team uses.

                  Looking at you Nexcloud.
