It's common knowledge that NSA has a good database on alot of people. Anyone who's even 3 or 4 deep from a person of interest. Which is extremely easy to do and you'll likely never know.

Do you believe China and Russia have a database for western citizens like you and I?

Also which one us is worse to have your data?

Depends on your crimes... But for everyone else, who cares. Every US company (think Facebook, telecoms, hacks, etc) already has more on you than the NSA; they probably just aggregate it all into one DB.

The social media part is true, but you don't have to be a criminal. You just have to be 3 or 4 deep of one

            Yes, and the USA/NSA

This is the part I don't get - Why do you not care about this? Is it because you believe they are benevolent and will never misuse that information? Is it because you believe they are near omnipotent and therefore there is nothing you could do if they did abuse it?

I'm leaning towards there's not really anything you could do because it will get abused -- even if not by the people who are supposed to protect it. It doesn't matter who has the information, there's always a chance that it falls into the wrong hands. My PII has been stolen at least 6 times in the last 5 to 10 years -- all from places that were supposed to have that data protected.

I think that they have a better grasp on how expensive that is and how useless it is and don't waste the resources 🙂

Where "one" isn't criminal, but simply someone that the government fears or doesn't like.

My view is for the UK. With social media and online services, even internet banking etc, all our data is out there and how it's used we have no control. I wouldn't be surprised if they all feed into GCHQ anyway.
