      So glad that I didn't have to say it.

      @momurda

      I don't mean to be a dick... but he's been "studying" virtualization for 5 years! He never once came across KVM, Xen, Hyper-V, or Esxi Free? That doesn't compute.

      Was he studying the VMWare sales materials?

        That would be my guess? But even the VMWare sales material has references to Hyper-V and Xen.

          Studying might have meant "asking a salesman from time to time".

            It looks like a lot of that topic was gutted by some moderator.

                @scottalanmiller the topic only has a handful of replies now. Based on this conversation I assume it was several pages.

                      Used quadi-FakeRAID (quasi because they are mostly public about the fact that it's not RAID hardware.) PERC S100

                        @scottalanmiller Being fakeraid1 I wonder if he can even take one of the drives and access the data just to get his data back.

                          Probably with the right tools.

                            Why isn't it virtual? Because it is physical. Um... really? I think someone is in over their heads, and this is a consultant?

                                  It's not very often but every month or so someone adds a spice to it. Looking at it now there is only 8 spice ups... but I know there were more in the past.

                                      That guys seems to be receptive, at least. But I agree, he's in over his head and not really understanding how he is currently making decisions.

                                        He just keeps repeating his circular logic. They are physical because they aren't virtual. They aren't virtual because they are physical. But he won't say why. I'm pretty sure he doesn't really know these terms and doesn't know what to do.

                                          I see that. You've asked if his hands are tied, but he's not committing to that.
