Just plugged in my steam controller for the first time. Any games you guys recommend for getting used to this thing? Trying to decide what I want to play... I was thinking about playing through Portal tonight because I had never played it until this week.
Well any normal controller based game will "just work" like normal. It's games that don't accept controllers and only work with a mouse that are the really interesting ones.
Find an old school point and click style adventure to really see it in action as a mouse replacement.
That's a pretty good recommendation. I've found old school role playing games... Baulder's Gate and the like, work really well with the steam controller.

Torchlight is a good point & click that would be interesting for this, perhaps?

Liesl is trying out Bad Rats

@mlnews at that price, I might actually consider one.

I was seriously considering it yesterday... but realized it would just be another gaming peripheral I don't have time for.

I was playing Subnautica last night, and I hit a big milestone -- completing the Cyclops submersible. As I was touring the interior, the game crashed. Last save was an hour prior. Soooo I went to bed. Tonight, I'll get back to where I was and I'm going to set up a 15 minute save timer. I wish that game had auto-save!

@coliver I want the Vive, or nothing. Until that goes to 399 though i wont buy it.

That's was my second excuse. I'm really waiting for the next generation, I think once you can go wireless, or damn near wireless, then this technology with have some serious teeth.

I want the Vive as well, but I might make do.

I wonder how much I'll care about wireless. I don't want to get up and move around, I want to sink into the couch and be immersed in the game world.

@scottalanmiller I want to do both. Imagine Chivalry in VR where you can swing your virtual maul around and not be bound by left/right/overhand/underhand attacks. or ninja/jedi fights.
