what makes me doubtful is the name of jumper (CN8) which mean (i guess) connector not jumper

Do you need the password for some reason? does it matter that you do not know it?

OK so you can't add the app to another device without the password.

Is the device currently in a usable state? Can you view the cameras from the app you have now on your phone, or from your desktop computer?

I think it is time to fess up.

Hey boss, the password for the DVR is lost. I can leave everything as it is now, but when you need new access on a new phone, I will have to try to reset the password, and that may break the box and we will have to buy a new one.

You should look into something like Keepass. Save the database in a shared location and lock it down, then you can have all your passwords in one place so you don't have to remember them.

Keepass you definitely need. And share it with the boss.

unplug it, put a multimeter across CN8 - might learn something.

next up, google the nextchip nvp1118B - might learn something there too

Have you tried 123456, or 000000 as the passwords?
