What I do on my 15 min breaks at work
I made sirloin steak Penne Alfredo and broccoli... Not tooting my own horn, but I think I'm a culinary genius
I basically just knew VOIP existed and that's about it. Now having to troubleshoot soft phones and hard phones and the occasional strange soft phone-hard phone combo, it's more on my mind.

Welcome back to the party.
Thanks! Got a little busy, but glad to be back on here.

@scottalanmiller said in Where Does University Need to Focus for IT Students:
The biggest focus should be business and liberal arts. I want to see students with accounting, psychology, economics, general business, writing, public speaking and similar training. I can teach the tech that I need, I have to no matter what.
Time to drop my 2 cents, haha. I can say from current personal experience, my degree is more like this. Although since I am an online student I don't see how they would effectively do hands on tech anyways. It may also be the fact that I am pursuing IT management which focuses more on the business side of things. I luckily had a bunch of prior credits from a previous degree that covered most of that and the liberal arts, which is saving me a bunch of money, but that's besides the point. I always saw a degree/education as a way to get a general knowledge base and the specifics for the job/career are learned by doing them in personal time or on the job training and such.
Awww, I just noticed this and didn't have the chance to do some chemistry puns... Oh well, here's one... Sodium hypochlorITe.
Just working on fake tickets for training, waiting on state clearance for access to tools so I can actually work...not that I'm complaining about getting paid to wait, just boring.

@quixoticjeremy Very true, didn't think of that....need more coffee
You need an avatar. Just having a big B as your avatar gets annoying lol. There are others that have that so when I just see a letter I tend to not associate it with a specific person.
There, hows that!

I wish I had invested a portion of my college fund, also wish I didn't waste 6 years of my life and loan debt on a degree I won't use....but hindsight is 20/20.
Don't have anything to do but search the knowledge base at work and be on here till 12:30...yay training
This was an interesting read. I had never really given any thought to corruption in IT beyond the faking it idea. I sure as heck wouldn't feel comfortable working somewhere and not knowing what I'm doing and not even making an effort to learn.
Just ruled out the processor for my computer, time to find a motherboard
@reid-cooper been working on it since I got home to no avail... I've tried almost everything in my wheelhouse short of flashing bios
So this morning, I had hoped that my computer would magically be fine.... It has degraded to just pulsing the case fan and not even powering up.... So fingers crossed for psu issue
@reid-cooper all I have is vodka, making due haha
@quixoticjustin dead silence, fans and leds are working though
Oh you know, get home after a long day and my pc won't boot.... Well rather won't post... Turns on fine, but that lovely red cpu led is there.... Oh joy
I found this very interesting, since I'm switching to IT from education I always saw certifications as state mandated in order to even be considered for a position.
