Mac and Time Machine Backup Questionposted in IT Discussion
If my cousin did a Time Machine backup on her Mac to an external drive, and then resets the Mac to its factory settings, will the back up still work correctly?

Awesome! Also, ummm... you didn't get a good look at everyone that was in your room in the middle of the night right? Cause if not, I absolutely was not there.

RE: Virtual Machines WINDOWS XP MODEposted in IT Discussion
I find it so frustrating when an application is "vital" to a company's business, but they don't want to pay to update it so that it works on a current OS. Maybe not the case here, but a pretty common issue, especially in SMB.

RE: Game: The Shipposted in Water Closet
I think that Francesca might like this game. We need to play it while she's up in NY so that I can describe it to her and see if she's interested.

Although the format made me laugh and they are incredibly outdated, the videos really do explain everything in easy terms.

She's working up her courage to play it through the scary part. Maybe tonight?

RE: Well, I'm Hooked Againposted in Water Closet
@ajstringham I used to feel like I was a wimp or something for always wanting to play on easy, and then @scottalanmiller explained why he does in a way that made so much sense. We aren't in it for slash and hack just for the sake of it, we play for the story, and you get the same story on easy.

I feel like MangoCon would attract some pretty confused people, wondering where the sessions on mango growing and harvesting are.

RE: Well, I'm Hooked Againposted in Water Closet
@scottalanmiller Yes, I've been thinking about it. I just have so much to do at the moment, that I'm afraid to let myself get started up again! At the moment, I spend all day reading homeschool email lists, searching for groups for us to join, reading posts on HS facebook groups, etc. I want to make sure that we are well prepared for this first official reporting year of HS in NYS.

I found great last-minute travel deals for Danielle, so if anyone wants to go and needs help with flights and hotel, let me know. Don't let logistics hold you back.

Hopefully I will be there. We are trying to work out childcare. They really threw a wrench in the works by making it an entire month early.

RE: External video card neededposted in IT Discussion
Sucks for them, but hopefully this will wake them up to the fact that they need to consult someone before just purchasing whatever looks good to them, willy nilly. Not that this stops a lot our clients from doing stupid stuff like buying laptops at Best Buy, Staples, etc, without realizing what their requirements actually are.
