@JaredBusch Just install virt-manager and the kvm and libvirt packages. Virt-manager is as easy as Virtualbox.

We're starting to migrate from Lenovo T460 and T560 to Dell Latitude. It seems more durable for 25% less the cost of the Lenovo.
Have you priced out Asus? They have some nice offerings.

In Italy, I cannot find the zenbook 3 for less than 1500€.
If someone is travelling from the US to Palermo…
!
Not anytime soon.
I didn't mean it seriously :D.
Going back to the topic, it's a shame that Dell can't remedy to the coil whine issue, the XPS 13 is almost a perfect laptop apart from that.

Yeah, same!

RE: Sub $600 laptop
Maybe Dell build quality is better than Lenovo, but I can't find a suitable high-end ultrabook... the XPS 13 has that terrible coil whine issue, I've follow the whole story in the Dell official forum. Seems that they aren't capable of fix this issue... it's the second or third generation with coil whine, both 13' and 15' XPS.

I've seen some thinkpad t450 new in box for 600 on ebay. Very solid machines.
But then you are stuck with Lenovo gear. And stuff from eBay. That's a lot of risk in two different ways when good vendors have stuff in the pricerange, too, without needing to go to eBay and taking that risk.
But no one other than Lenovo has a good trackpoint.

RE: Using Unicode for Homograph Attacks

It makes it nearly trivial to make it impossible to prove that a website is really the right website as there is no mechanism, short of human vision, to validate it.
I disagree with that.
A simple switch on the web browser config can force strict ASCII decoding and evidence the homography issue.
The feature it's already in place and should be the default from now on.

Is there a cross platform encryption tool?
Would support Windows/Mac/Linux/iOS/Android.
Any ideas? Would love to use B2 on the backend for storage...
Why use anything else than GPG?

RE: Where is the XenServer 7 VM's serial console?
Found it! The command is "xl console", and it's seems like it's an unsupported feature as of today!

@scottalanmiller That could be.
But he's wanting to make changes to the VM from XS's console, which while possible, should all be documented.
xe help --all
should help to find what he's looking forOf course it's added.
I've replicated the exact procedure I've done with a centOS guest in a KVM host... but xe console vm=blabla just return "No text console available". It seems that I can't find a way to add a serial tty to the guest with either cli and both the guis (XO and XC). -

Putty allows you to copy and paste.
Any reason this won't work?
Presumably services are not running yet.
Yes, I'm talking about the LUKS password provided on boot. Literally nothing is running on the VM apart from the pre-boot environment :D.

Where is the XenServer 7 VM's serial console?
Hi everybody, I just facing another XS7 poor-documentation issue… or maybe I'm not to good at searching information when I'm in a hurry :D.
I just need to activate the VM serial console from the CLI via XAPI, to enter guest FDE LUKS password with copy-and-paste and not writing it manually.
With libvirt is super simple, just "virsh console".
What is the xe equivalent?Thank you in advance!

RE: Data archive is not backup! What do you use?
I've restrict my choice to XZ vs LZIP.
XZ is adopted by GNU, the kernel distribution and the majority of linux flavours…
But it looks like LZIP is better designed, more simple, with better docs, but not that widespread.Any advice on that?

Uck. Do you know the type of file system (xfs, ext3, ext4, zfs)?
ext4
I prefer xfs, that can be growth online. Always use LVM.
It's trivial to expand a volume with LVM: just add another virtual disk to the machine, pvadd, lvexend, xfs_growfs and you're done.
Same here, XFS is our go to filesystem.
It's the fastest, no-frills, fully-enterprise, best supported alternative.
I had issues with the latest BTRFS, till yesterday (unnecessary rebalance, cpu 100% etc). The ext family is good, but it was not designed for massive scaling or enterprise workloads.
ZFS on linux… no thanks.
JFS and others: not well supported. -
