Two kids under 2. Life is going to be crazy.

Best of luck to you and your spouse. May tomorrow come to a close with smiles, joy and good health to both mother and baby.

As for the two kids under 2,... Try having twins....Its kinda why I look like:

    • Do you know all your APs?

Client with UBNT Controller and nine APs on site having issues recently.

Up until about two weeks ago, client had no reported Issues with Wireless other than the normal here and there. Now they have five people complaining their phones and tablets won't connect to the internet. They have wifi signal, but get a message network disabled.

the SSID is good, but not one that is in the UBNT Controller, so not managed centrally, so what / where is it.

After doing several hours of trouble shooting and tracing down the issue it comes do to:

There are 10 APs,.. not nine. the tenth is....A Meraki in an office.

This goes with what I determined yesterday - it had to be 'another network' device as the SSID was different. As it turns out, yes, a Meraki wireless AP, running a different SSID that was not renewed due to the client favoring the UBNT line and not wanting to continue to invest in licenses for that service.

Speaking of that. It is funny that you mention whiskey. My son had bad toothaches and we tried all the baby crap on the market for toothpain. Some older people suggested we try putting whiskey on his gums. That worked so well, I wish we would have tried it months before we did.

That is what my grandmother did to us.

      Whatever works, right?

Edit: I wonder if this works for adults with problem teeth.

I am willing to sacrifice myself to find out. Donations to my cause are happily accepted.

Well,.. we'll need at least two people.. or more to make sure the results are not skewed... But @IRJ will have to be the control.

    • The USB Rubber Duck - Why?

      0_1491059015442_d1[1].jpg

      About the USB Rubber Ducky#
      The Original Keystroke Injection Tool

Since 2010 the USB Rubber Ducky has been a favorite amongst hackers, penetration testers and IT professionals. With origins as a humble IT automation proof-of-concept using an embedded dev-board, it has grown into a full fledged commercial Keystroke Injection Attack Platform. The USB Rubber Ducky captured the imagination of hackers with its simple scripting language, formidable hardware, and covert design.

Drifting around youtube I stumbled upon this thing,.. it's been around for a bit, and others may know about it... But as I look at this thing, I wonder how it could be used in the IT Professionals tool box...

I would expect @IRJ has heard of these - maybe even used one. But what use would they have for the 'lay person' if any.

Using parts from Amazon and Adafruit, took a 18650 cell and turned it into a battery booster. Right side is the charger that will also have a port for using Solar. Left side boosts to charge any USB device... Switched to reduce battery drain when not in use.

@Jimmy_K said in How to select right router for 100 users or more?:

      @Francesco-Provino Thanks for your response.

I am confusing that the Edgerouter ERLite-3 has price $49 with 1 mil packet per second which is same price with Cisco Linksys E2500 with the packet per second (Not sure). The Cisco one which I am using it is unable to deliver the outbound call. Most of the calls are drop, busy and no voice or breaking voice.

I would say that a lot has to do with the QoS and the level of service difference between the too.

Routers don't 'care' what the packet is, it just pushes it along.

The Linksys E2500 likely just doesn't have the CPU or the frame work that the ERL does. The ERL is a work horse - which is why it is in use by so many here on ML. UBNT has a solid product line that isn't tied to the name Cisco.... UBNT has proven that there product is superior in a number of ways over Cisco time after time.

Go with the ERl - No fuss - or headache

I asked today if I could do something proper with our documentation since we have stuff scattered around everywhere. I wanted to do a wiki since I do that at home. I found out that it can be switched on in our new ticketing system but just has not yet. The person in charge of the ticketing system is very knowledgeable but just has too much to do. At the same time he holds on to everything he can as do others there. Until I found that out I thought it was a good idea...

Go with the Wiki - Don't put all your information into one system. If it's down, your documentation on how to get it back won't be available...

      Looking good. Two comments:

      1. You should add some tubes to the switch. A bit much of tin solder. Next to a short circuit 😉
      2. Your GND connection on the module on the right side of the picture (BAT -) doesn't look too great.

      Well -

      1. yes, I agree. But,.. I may Suguru over it,... therefore isolating them.
      2. Yea,.. not my 'best' but it's a isobutate iron.. not all adjustable. That is easy to clean up.

    • RE: Transfer switches and backup electricity

you will want a UPS system size to allow your generator time to spin up and stabilize.. You likely will also want a line conditioner between your generator and UPS.

Things people don't seem to think about when they have a generator backup system -

      • Gasoline is a bad choice.. it goes bad.
      • Diesel or Propane / Natural Gas are better choices
      • Propane / Natural Gas- while it has less BTU per gallon is cleaner, and your generator will last longer
      • You MUST keep track of maintenance, fuel consumption and fuel usage (run times). What good is a generator if you run out of fuel
      • You must have BYPASS switching - Bypass the components when in maintenance mode
      • If you have Keycard access - Make sure it works without power...
      • Phone system needs to be powered.
      • Have at least one copper (POTS) line - it uses none of your power.. so should work.

I'm about to tell everyone I have 'friended' on FB to go take a flying leap... and then delete it. all I see is crap and negative.. and I deal with enough of that now.

so - 2FA - not worth my time.

I've removed friends that just post junk. But there are plenty of other things I find worth my time, such as seeing tons of photos and videos of my nieces/nephews/events I can't attend.

yea,.. I get that... and those are nice... But since I never seem to hear from any of my family - or friends (oh.. the whopping 2) - what the heck is the point? I mean,.. even JB ignores me there too... Even if he cused me out from time to time it would be nice....

    • Linux: History

In trying to isolate why an install worked on one system and not on another, I need only review history It's a great resource unless you have a habit of covering your 'tracks' by running history -c - which clears it.

So - how do you quickly and easily look at it as a text file? simple... nearly always find it via GOOGLE, but why not tag it here.

      history >> /home/%user/Desktop/history.txt

This exports it to a text file on your desktop.. history saved,.. just store it of PC and you can do more trouble shooting if needed.

Hope it helps someone other than myself.
